About the event
Turtle Islands will be created with recycled water bottles, geotextiles and wetland plants. Working with the city of Salem, The Friends of the Greenlawn Cemetery, Mack Park Community Farm, Dr. Lynn Fletcher entomologist at Salem State University. This is an example of Ecological Design, the art and science of adapting culture to Nature.
Turtle Island is named in honor of Manitonquat a Wampanoag elder who wrote a book with the same name.
